This short had budget of practically zero, but was nonetheless a highly creative and experimental challenge.
The client choreographed the dance based on waiting and anticipation. We had discussed some of the key points he wanted to get across, and took that into the shoot. There were no formal shots planned.
The title sequence features a spinning wheel commonly used when a computer is loading. I based the name on a computer command, and the client liked this.
The entire production was shot on an iPhone with no tripod. I tried to follow the dancers in shot and pick out the key points we had discussed.
I went with a 2.35:1 scope to bring the viewer closer to the dancers and focus on their emotions. Each segment had its own story that was shown and not told. This was the same reason for shooting the film in black and white; we felt that colour would be a distraction.
